Kang Ha-Il is a prominent character and member of the Sun-Woo Clan, being a close friend of Kwon Ji-Nie‏‎. He is a top master of Sun-Woo and a skilled fighter, as he had been hailed to be quickly recognised in the Murim World.

Appearance[]

Ha-Ill Gang is a young man usually seen wearing a black fedora, vest, and baggy skater pants. Ha-Ill accessorizes with checkered suspenders and a matching wrist band as well as two chains, a black collier and multiple earrings (two rings and a stud on each ear). He also has a tattoo on his face under his left eye, a lip ring, and has light colored hair.

Personality[]

Against enemies, he has seen to be quite sadistically twisted to the point of generally leaving opponents brutally dead. He hates those who do not see his perspective for enemies, as shown with Lee Shi-Woon, where he might have been brought to the point of actually killing him simply because of their difference in thought, despite the latter being his clan head.

With Kwon Ji-Nie‏‎, he has been shown to have a more playful and teasing side her, mocking the assumptions that she has feelings for Shi-Woon, saying "The Ones Who Love Usually Die First," pushing the latter to scold at him in denial. A while later after that scene, though, in a conversation with Big Mountain, it may be implied that his feelings towards her being "playful" is much deeper. Big Mountain had asked about Ha-Ill's possible loving feelings for her, in which he denies, simply saying, "There's no one as interesting as she is."

Also, it has been shown that he incredibly and deeply cares for Jin-Ie's safety, as he had been shown in ridiculous irritation about her disappearance and eventual conflict with the S.U.C to the point of possibly killing Shi-Woon, and actually attempting to attack his elder, Kwon Jae-Kyu, when the elder defies the thought of helping her.

Ha-Il threatens her and she asks if he knows about the cameras around the building. Claiming he's smashed them, Sae-Ra reveals he missed the remaining ones and shows him images of his earlier actions and that they'll be released to the Murim if not deleted. Sae-Ra asks to negotiate and she'll make sure nothing gets leaked. Ha-Il asks if she expects him to believe and if she's the school head or not. Dropping Shi-Woon at his house, he warns Ji-Nie that Shi-Woon may drag them down because of his spirit level. Teasing Jin-Ie about being in too deep with him, causing her to react. At the car with Dae-San, mentions to Ha-Il that he's worried about Ji-Nie. Ha-Il responds confirming he's worried, since there's no one better to tease than her. As they depart, Dae-San calls him a lying bastard.[6]

Appearing at Nine Dragon's Hospital, he enters Lee Shi-Woon's room and claims he knew he'd be here. He grabs him and pins him to a wall and asks where's Kwon Ji-Nie‏‎.[7]

He throws him across the room until he walks over to him and stabs him in the hand with a knife and tells him to spill it. When Kang Sae-Ra enters the room, Ha-Il says its perfect timing as he was going to look for her. Shi-Woon asks if something has to Ji-Nie. Ha-Il mentions Ji-Nie was in charge of him and if she had nothing to do with her disappearance, he questions why he's here. Shi-Woon asks him to calm down and what's important is finding her. When Sera mentions she probably decied on her own to disappear. Sae-Ra suggests they talk elsewhere. Sat down, Sae-Ra guesses if Ji-Nie has close relationship with a clan elder. Ha-Il says Elder Kwon is her grandfather. Sae-Ra tells them Elder Kwon is Shi-Woon's enemy, Ha-Il loses his temper and questions her. She mentions Elder Kwon's plan to draw him under his control, hasn't gone smoothly as he choice to go with using Ji-Nie to kill him. Ha-Il asks her for proof but she tells him wanting proof means he already has suspicions as he knows better than anyone else what's going on inside the clan. Ha-Il gets up and walks away saying he'll look for her on his own and apoloziges to Shi-Woon for stabbing his hand.[8]

Standing before the clan elders he informs them Shi-Woon has been spotted by his school. Elder Min asks him if he's looked into his whereabouts since. Ha-Il says this is a far as he got. As Elder Min along with Elder Kim offer to join the search and leave, he asks Elder Kwon if he gave Ji-Nie a different mission. Elder Kwon asks what he means and Ha-Il asks if he order her to kill Shi-Woon. He slaps Ha-Il and orders him to leave his sight immediately. Walking away he mentions it was his selfishness that sent his daughter away and is he willing to lose Ji-Nie in the same way. Elder Kwon throws a book at him and says he doesn't want to hear it. Ha-Il looks at him and leaves.[9]

Ha-Il calls him an idiot and questions who's gonna rescue who. Ha-Il asks her where he's going. She warns him not to go alone as they're dangerous. Ha-Il questions if she takes him for a pushover. Sae-Ra tells him she's reminding him of how serious the situation is. Sae-Ra gives him a phone with Shi-Woon's location and tells him it will be difficult to resolve the situation in his clan without Elder Kwon's involement. Suddenly, being told how right she is, Elder Kwon appears. Sae-Ra reaches for the phone but Elder Kwon gets to it first. He tells Ha-Il he had a feeling he was up to something so he was keeping an eye on him. Ha-Il tells him Ji-Nie is in danger and Sae-Ra mentions she has gotten mixed up in a fight with S.U.C, and Shi-Woon went to rescue when learning the news. Ha-Il once again tells him Ji-Nie is in danger and she's his granddaughter and questions if he's going to abandon her. Walking away, Elder Kwon him tells he's never thought of her as his granddaughter and wether she lives or dies has nothing to do with him. Trivia[]

  • His hat is a memento given to him by someone special to him. Because of this he takes great care of it even altering his fighting style to allow one hand to hold it on his head while fighting.
  • He is likely 31 years old as he was too old to go on the trip to the Impermanent Prison which was for martial artists aged 30 and under. But he can't be much older than 31 considering how young he looked in his flashbacks with Jinie.[15]
